The traditional St. John’s regatta has revived Luška vala!

The evening ended on the Mala riva with a great concert by Bruno Rački.

The traditional rowing regatta of St. John was held in Vela Luka on Wednesday, which this year was dedicated to the tragically deceased rower from the port, Stipe Trojanović.

A total of nine crews took part in the competition – five male and four female – and competed in two races in boats with four rowers and a helmsman.

🥇 In the men’s competition, the Medvjedići crew (Antonio Burmas, Bude Cetinić, Nikola Žuvela, Antonio Dragojević and helmsman Đani Trojanović) won. Second place went to the Ošjak crew (Antonio Šeparović, Nikola Šeparović, Tomislav Borovina, Leon Surjan and helmsman Roko Žuvela), while the Moreplovine crew (Petar Marinović, Luka Vlašić, Nikola Franulović, Marko Oreb and helmsman Toni Đuderija) came in third. The members of the Torcida team crossed the finish line in fourth place, and the DVD Hajduk crew took fifth place.

🥇The first race of the day featured senior women rowing, and the gold medals deservedly went to the Prgava crew (Jelena Barčot, Tea Prižmić, Marija Šeparović, Jasna Maričić and helmsman Liana Jurković). The Strijelka crew (Maja Vlašić, Lucija Tabain, Dina Tabain, Martina Stipković and helmsman Ema Oreb) won silver, Pegula crew (Laura Oreb, Karla Gugić, Isa Bogdanović, Nora Mirošević and helmsman Meri Surjan) took third place, while the Bad crew finished fourth.

🏆 The winning cup, gold medals and traditional laurel wreath were presented by the municipal mayor Katarina Gugić. The other participants were awarded prizes by the director of the Vela Luka Tourist Board Dorjan Dragojević, the president of the VK Ošjak Anito Šeparović, the long-time successful rower of the VK Ošjak Nikša Prižmić and the president of the Luško lito association Tonči Surjan.
The entire event was attended by a large number of visitors from land and sea. The festive tone of the celebration was set by the Vela Luka Folk Band, which played while sailing through the waves on a boat, the FD Kumpanija, which performed after the Mass on the head of St. John, and the children’s section of Mafrine, which performed in the town center. The Luško Lito Association took care of the gastronomic offer by preparing fried and baked sardines, while members of the League Against Cancer treated visitors to prosciutto.

The organization of this traditional event is signed by the Luško lito association, Visit Vela Luka- TZ, VK Ošjak, Vela Luka Cultural Center and Communal Activities, under the patronage of the Vela Luka Municipality and Hotel ‘Adria’ Vela Luka ✨

On this occasion, we would like to thank Konoba Stari Ribar and Zlinje doo.
